Farrah Barrios has completed a 3.5-year tenure as the first ever Director for Global Food Security and Development Planning for the Development, Global Health, and Humanitarian Response Directorate at the National Security Council (NSC) of The White House, focused on G20 and G7 deliverables on trade and agriculture. She also served four years as a Senior Budget Advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Office of the Administrator. She was responsible for agency-wide budget execution, budget formulation for all programs in Europe and Asia, and budget policy issues regarding all programs in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. She has also worked at the International Monetary Fund, the U.S. Treasury Department, The U.S. Federal Reserve Board of New York, the private sector and led microfinance programs in Cambodia, East Timor-Indonesia, and Laos and has traveled to over 110 countries. Ms. Barrios is a native Spanish speaker, who is also fluent in Japanese, and proficient in Arabic. Farrah is a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, The Wharton School, Johns Hopkins University, and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
