Bio
As the founder and CEO of AfriCatalyst, Daouda leads a team of development and climate finance experts who provide strategic advice and innovative solutions to address the complex challenges and opportunities facing Africa and its partners. With over 20 years of experience spanning public administration, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions, the private sector, and think tanks, Daouda brings deep and diverse knowledge of the economic, political, and social dynamics of the continent.
At AfriCatalyst, Daouda leverages his expertise in macroeconomics, policy analysis, international and government relations, and global development economics to help shape and influence policies that foster sustainable and inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and social progress in Africa. He has also contributed to the global dialogue on African development issues as a distinguished non-resident fellow at the Center for Global Development and the African Center for Economic Transformation.
Daouda’s work extends beyond Africa. He was a member of the Jubilee Commission of Experts chaired by Professor Joseph Stiglitz, whose report was commissioned by the late Pope Francis to address debt and development crises.
He also served on the G20 Africa Expert Panel appointed by the South African G20 Presidency.
More recently, he contributed to the Harvard and MIT Global Climate Policy Project Working Group on Climate Coalitions, a diverse group of economists, policymakers, and technical experts whose work helped shape the Declaration on the “Open Coalition on Compliance Carbon Markets” endorsed by advanced economies, emerging markets, and developing economies during COP30 in Belem, Brazil.
Daouda holds a PhD in Development Economics from American University in Washington, DC. He is fluent in English and French, and has working proficiency in Spanish.
