Africatalyst at the African Conference On Debt and Development

Africatalyst co-organized the 3rd edition of the African Conference on Debt and Development.

Speaking at the event our CEO Daouda Sembene, PhD stressed on the importance of Africa having representation at the global stage to help it address its debt challenges effectively.

“For Africa’s voice to resonate, representation by the African Union or a Pan-African/regional body is crucial. It is therefore vital for the G-20 to allocate a seat to Africa, enabling representation on global economic matters, particularly debt issues, for the continent.”

He further highlighted the importance of considering low to moderately debt-distressed African nations in debt restructuring talks noting that these countries need access to affordable liquidity support. Further urging credit rating agencies to use transparent methods that mirror these countries realities.
