Investing in women – A crucial step towards accelerating the green transition

The world is on the brink of a green transition that will tackle climate change and environmental degradation. However, this transition comes with hurdles and prospects. Women’s involvement in this transition is essential, but we must not overlook the requirement for climate finance to address gender inequality and shape a more equitable and sustainable future. Shockingly, almost one billion women lack access to financial services, hindering the development of gender equality.

In line with this year’s United Nations International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, 2024, Africatalyst celebrated under the theme “Invest in Women to Accelerate Progress.” These exceptional leaders shared their ongoing work and experiences on how best organizations can support and accelerate investment in women across sectors, the panel also explores and highlighted the areas where significant progress is needed, and proposed and shared solutions to drive sustainable and inclusive ways to invest in women.
